ABSTRACT

Strain gauges were placed in 13 locations inside the west arch in the middle of the structure. Four gauges were fitted in each location: two at the crest of the corrugation and two in its valley (in total 52 strain gauges). Thanks to this configuration strains could be measured in longitudinal and latitudinal directions. Location of strain gauges is shown in Figure 1. The strains in each measuring point were used to calculate the axial and bending stresses from the equations derived by Korusiewicz and Kunecki (2011).
