ABSTRACT

Reason for this change in university admission regulations is the worry about the looming shortage of engineers. In consequence, by reducing the admission requirements, it is intended to motivate more people to study engineering sciences to counter the lack of engineers in the long-term and to promote the idea of lifelong learning. This development leads to problems in the study entrance phase because of freshmen’s heterogeneity regarding prior knowledge and skills, especially on the field of science and technology.
