ABSTRACT
Instrumentation of the models comprised 126 strain gauges placed in the longitudinal and transverse reinforcing bars. The strain gauges were basically placed within the influence length of the plastic hinge, defined for this study as a section with a size equivalent to greater dimension of the cross section measured from the critical section. In a first instance, these recorded strains were aimed to identify the level of demand in the reinforcement, and therefore, their possible incursion in the yielding area.
