DEFINITION, ETIOLOGY, AND EPIDEMIOLOGY Vitiligo is an acquired disease characterized by well-circumscribed, depigmented macules and patches. Vitiligo affects approximately 0.5-2% of the population worldwide. Disease onset in childhood (<12 years of age) has been reported in 25-30% of cases1.
