ABSTRACT

Canada has a history of embracing long-term crop rotation studies, the first of which was started in 1910 (Campbell et al., 1990). Some of the original studies still exist (Janzen, 2001). Rotation studies that include grain and forage phases were started in the 1930s. Three of these studies are still operating, two at Agriculture and AgriFood’s research centers at Indian Head, Saskatchewan and Lethbridge, Alberta, and one at the University of Alberta-The Breton Plots. All have provided important information for organic farm management.
