ABSTRACT

We have learned from previous chapters that the advantage of wavelet transform (WT) over Fourier transform (FT) lies in its ability to achieve optimal localization in both time and frequency domains, without violating Heisenberg’s uncertainty principle. It is worth mentioning that the scale represents the frequency content, and the nite scale-dependent size of the wavelet endows it with the ability to localize a given frequency modulation of the signals in the time domain (Farge, 1992).
