ABSTRACT

Introduction Researchers note that the public health system needs improvements. More specifically, Mays et al. (2004) state that the public health system needs “better information on how to organize, finance, and deliver public health services to achieve improvements in the population health” (p 183). They also state that one key element in improving the public health system is to increase the pipeline of public health systems researchers and that these researchers must be able to develop analytical methods and tools to help answer questions of policy and practice.
