ABSTRACT

So far, we have discussed at length the role of law enforcement in dealing with honor-based violence (HBV) and we have pointed out that it is important for law enforcement to work with other agencies. Multiagency working can be problematic as different agencies bring different procedures and expectations to the table. This can have negative consequences for victims and witnesses of HBV because different procedures may potentially expose them to risk. Therefore, it is imperative that all agencies concerned with HBV develop protocols to facilitate interagency working. In this section, we will explore the responsibilities of other agencies as regards HBV and will suggest approaches that might facilitate efficient interagency cooperation.
