ABSTRACT
Introduction I am not a golfer. I have played two games of golf in my life, both of which I was compelled (in one case, ordered) to play.
My rst game was in 1993 when I was ‘ordered’ to participate in an ofcers versus sergeants mess match. Without going into the quality of my effort, I was awarded ve ‘extra duties’ by my commanding ofcer at the time-extra duties being a form of ‘unofcial’ disciplinary action for poorly performing junior ofcers.
