ABSTRACT
Acoustic emission (AE) is a nondestructive testing method based on the emission of acoustic waves by materials undergoing deformation. AE is defined as the elastic waves generated by the rapid release of energy from sources such as failure mechanisms within a material. This test method is employed in various industries because of its ability to provide valuable insight into how a structure would behave under loading.
