ABSTRACT

EU Commission Regulations EEC 362, eco-design requirements for Room Air Conditioners (RACs) and comfort fans, and EEC 363, requirements for the energy labeling and the provisions of product information of air conditioners, were issued in succession by European Commission in early 2011. Both of the regulations are made to evaluate RACs from an ecological perspective, seeking for the refrigerating/heating capacity at the lowest eco-cost. Seen from the thermodynamic perspective, this improvement optimizes the rules for the threshold values and Energy Performance Standards (EPSs) for RACs and comfort fans.
