ABSTRACT
The study area in this paper is Hoxtolgay coal field, so writer adopted the traditional divided method to divide the coal field from west to east, from north to south into Lamazhao mine lot, Tiechanggou-Baiyanghe depression, Hoxtolgay depression and Shahaiji mine lot. Hoxtolgay coalfield is located in the northwest Zhunggar basin. It stretches from the north Delun Mountain in the east to the 60 km west of Tiechangtou town in the west, from Wukelageer mountain and north edge of Xiemisitai in the north to the south edge of Zayier Mountain and Halate Mountain in the north. It is 307 km long from east to west and 15.66-58.98 km wide from south to north with an area of 5054 km2. The prediction of coal resource is 90 billion tons. Coal bearing stratums are Mesozoic middle-lower Jurassic Badaowan formation (J1b) and Xishanyao formation (J2x) which are mostly appeared in the bottom. Coal seam is varied greatly from west to east.
