A direct control of central air conditioning load considering indoor comfort

While fulfilling the demand response, we also need to consider the requirements of indoor comfort. In the international reference standards ASHRAE Standard 55[6], several most important physical environment parameters which have an impact on comfort are: the body’s activity, clothing thermal resistance, air temperature, air humidity, average radiant temperature and air velocity. China’s national standard “Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Regulation Design Code” (GBJ 19-87) proposes the indoor design parameters of comfort for air conditioning, see Table 1.
