ABSTRACT

Such kind of a failure as a wire break of one of

the aerial power transmission line (PTL) phases in open-pit distribution mains makes up about 10% of all types of damages. Danger degree of this emergency state is characterized by emergency state transfer into single-phase earthing when the broken wire comes in contact with earth. Besides, depending on now fat the wire breakage point is from the PTL support, there are three modes of shortening:

- ground fault from the source (classic singlephase ground fault);

- ground fault from the electrical receiver side (only the wire connected with a consumer touches the ground);

- ground fault in two points from the sides of the source and the electrical receiver.
