ABSTRACT

A warehouse is able to perform well only when it is integrated into the entire logistics chain. In order for this to happen, certain rules of behavior need to be followed. Communication must be clear and positive; interactions should be defined formally by contract; logistics providers must have access to product information; focus on cost reduction must be kept in the context of overall company objectives and requires the feedback of your logistics partner; customer complaints must not be blindly forwarded without company validation; look for partners with a dynamic negotiation stance, one that is continually looking for and proposing improvements; avoid the trap of operating only on the short-term; make sure that all your interactions with your partner do not only focus on their shortcomings and other problems. In summary, do not push your sub-contractor into the corner with the attitude that his role is strictly one of execution.
