ABSTRACT

Transport by road is used everwhere, with a maturity level that varies by country. In many countries, it is easy to create a transport company; as a result, the offer far exceeds demand and there are thousands of such companies, meaning that, until recently, the customers has had the upper hand in negotiating the shipping costs. With the rise in fuel prices, the bankruptcy of many of these companies has now led to a drop of the number of trucks on the road, meaning that a sudden surge in shipping demand has become more difficult to handle.
