ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the optimization of the fabrication technologies for the high-effi ciency dye-sensitized solar cells (DSC) are discussed. Techniques include TiCl4 treatments for the photoelectrodes, and the application of a transparent nanocrystalline-TiO2layer, a light-scattering layer and an anti-refl ecting fi lm on TCO-substrates. The TiCl4 treatments are necessary to improve the mechanical strength of the TiO2 layer. The thickness of TiO2 layer affects the photocurrent and the photovoltage of the devices. Furthermore, the photocurrent can also increase with introduction of an anti-refl ecting fi lm. These components have signifi cant infl uences on the energy-conversion effi ciency.
