ABSTRACT

Hate, violence, degradation of women, and the discrimination of others because of difference do not equate with the ideals of duty, honor, and service. Yet these are but some of the antisocial characteristics and actions of the special-operations group (SOG) subculture. The alcoholfueled violence and risk-taking behaviors of the deviant operator lifestyle support this. While this book focuses on the cop culture to include officers and SOG operators, this final section gears more specifically on those SOG members who have become fully socialized into fragmented subcultures of isolation.
