ABSTRACT

While the profession of policing continues to experience dramatic technological advances in equipment, forensics, mapping, and data analysis, the “boots on the ground” are still filled by dedicated men and women. Though they may benefit professionally from the implementation of technology into their work atmosphere, they continue to be plagued by the detrimental effects of a secretive association. To help in studying the cop culture’s effects on the officer, the agency, and the public, we examine the relevant literature.
