ABSTRACT

Besides health, the difficulties experienced by shift workers can also be felt on the familial and conjugal realm (e.g., organisation of domestic life, marital and parental relationships) as well as on their social lives (e.g., difficulty with engaging in social activities) (e.g., Gadbois, 2004; Wedderburn, 2000). In this case, difficulties occur as a result of the existing conflict between working hours and the temporal organisation of society regarding the privileged periods dedicated to family and social life, which tend to happen at the end of the day or over the weekend (Baker et al., 2003).
