1 INTRODUCTION

The daily presence, in the media, of news referring to work-related accidents has been making our society more and more conscious of this unfortunate reality. Agents with responsibility in the area of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) have been developing multiple campaigns to raise awareness to the several types of work-related accidents and occupational diseases which occur in many sectors of activity. The legal obligation that companies organize their OHS services constituted a major step towards improving working conditions.
