ABSTRACT
An arch bridge is usually dened as a vertically curved and axially compressed structural member spanning an opening and providing a support for the moving loads above the opening. According to the spandrel structure, deck arch bridges can be characterized as lled spandrel arch bridge and open spandrel arch bridge as illustrated in Figure 8.1. e terminology used to describe arch bridges is shown in Figure 8.1.
