ABSTRACT

Cable-stayed bridges have become very popular since completion of the rst modern cable-stayed bridge, the Strömsund Bridge in Sweden, in 1955. Due to the versatile nature of cable-stayed bridges this type of bridge design is adopted for a variety of span lengths from footbridges less than 50 m in length up to spans of more than 1000 m carrying trac load. ere are currently well over 1000 cable-stayed bridges around the world.
