ABSTRACT

The global market for engineered nanomaterials (ENMs) is forecast to grow 3 trillion euros and employ 6 million workers by 2020.1 It is still dominated by materials that have been in use for decades, such as carbon black (mainly used in tires) or synthetic amorphous silica (used not only as a polymer ller but also in toothpaste or as an anticoagulant in food powders).
