Balçova geothermal field district heating system: lessons learned from 16 years of application

Balçova geothermal field is situated 11 km southwest of the city of I˙zmir in western Anatolia (38.2◦ latitude, 27.0◦ longitude) (Fig. 10.1). It is located along the E-W trending Izmir Fault Zone. The oldest and common stratigraphic unit around the geothermal field is Upper Cretaceous
