ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: At 8:02 am on April 20, 2013, a strong earthquake of 7.0 magnitudes on the Richter scale occurred in Lushan County, Sichuan Province, China. The data of inpatients injured in Lushan Earthquake at Chengdu Military General Hospital of People’s Liberation Army were collected using the “No. 1 Military Medical Project” hospital information system and the selfprepared questionnaire, to investigate the traumatic characteristics of these inpatients. In total, 65 inpatients were admitted to and treated at the hospital. There were 48 cases of closed trauma, accounting for 73.85%. The four most common injury sites were multiple trauma, lower limb, waist and abdomen, and chest and back. The four most common injury categories were skin and soft tissue injuries, fractures, combined injuries, and visceral injuries. The comprehensive and systematic understanding of the traumatic characteristics of inpatients injured in Earthquake provides important guidance for medical rescue following an earthquake.
