ABSTRACT
ABSTRACT: Four new tide-gauge stations were established along the southern and northern flanks of Tiaozini, the core region of the central Jiangsu coast. Based on the measured tide level data, the quantitative analysis of the spatial distribution of the tidal range was carried out in this paper. The result showed that the maximum tidal range 9.39 m, a significant and reliable data, was observed in Xintiaoyugang station. It is higher than 9.28 m observed in Xiaoyangkou near Xintiaoyugang station in the 1980’s. Moreover, the tidal range in the north was smaller than in the south. Thus, the tidal range presented an irregular convex shape. “Movable standing tidal wave” was the main reason of large tidal range in the central Jiangsu coast.
