ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: Cultural heritage protection campaign has been rapidly developed since the 1970s, and the protection of cultural heritage has become a common view for all people. However, under China’s current context of rapid urbanization, the number of urban cultural heritage has sharply decreased, and the “constructive destroy” towards the heritage is very common. The research chooses Beijing Chaoyang District as the study object that has the largest district area and population and possesses a long history and rich cultural sediments. Through spatial analysis in GIS on the correlation between the heritage and the systems of road, water, and park greens, the research finds the spatial distribution features of the heritage. Through the analysis on least cost distance, the research constructs a conservation network and proposes an integrated protection strategy for the historic and cultural heritage in Chaoyang. The research involves the issue of heritage protection in the context of urbanization.
