ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: The effects of 100 mg/L GA3 + 100 mg/L 6-BA + 50% of fruit wax on the firmness and lignification of postharvest betel nut were examined during storage at 7◦C. Coating treatment effectively delayed the increasing speed of fruit firmness and lignin content. And between them were positively correlated. At the same time, coating treatment also inhibited the activity of four kinds of key enzyme which could generate the lignin, PAL, 4-CL, CAD and POD. But coating treatment had a lesser inhibition effect on 4-CL and CAD activity compared to PAL and POD. Meanwhile, CAD activity showed a downward trend in the later storage; while in contrast, POD activity continued to rise.
