Both single-screw extruders (SSEs) and twin-screw extruders (TSEs) are used to process a variety of foamed products. Many different processing techniques and materials are used in foaming, and as a result, there is no standard device, process method, or so-called best practice for production. In other words, “it depends.” Extrusion processors looking to make foamed products should use a “think it through” approach in order to gure out which processing system is likely to give them the best results.
