ABSTRACT

The patented DYLYN® coating consists of double amorphous interpenetrating networks, C:H (carbon:hydrogen) and Si:O (silicon:oxygen). DYLYN®’s coating technology and characteristics ensure a direct secure single layer connection to stainless steel. The interpenetrating networks generate a coating with an extremely low surface energy (25-30 mN/m) and a very low surface roughness (0.02 µm Ra) resulting in its strong anti-sticking character. Due to the ultra thin DYLYN® film (<0.5 µm) and the specific network, this coating has an excellent elasticity modulus (<100 Gpa) compared to stainless steel (+200 Gpa), giving it high flexibility. This prevents cracking during expansion of the metal surface, ensuring complete coverage in all phases. The combination of the unique coating characteristics with the geometric flexibility of the GENIC® creates optimal safety and protection features. This combination increases the biocompatibility of the implant, thus decreasing potential restenosis rates. The smooth surface and excellent performance of the coated stent is a suitable one for the application of drug-eluting coating technology.
