ABSTRACT

The research groups of CNR-ISAC and of UIAMiTAC are the responsible respectively for the physical and chemical aspects. The aim of the microclimatic and chemical study is to investigate the influence of daily and seasonal thermo-hygrometric cycles, and of gaseous and particulate air pollutants on the medieval stained glass windows, as well as the effects of the use of the environment in which these works of art are preserved. Moreover, at the same time the efficiency of the internal ventilated protective glazing system is being evaluated, comparing the conditions of two stained glass windows of the apse, respectively protected and unprotected.
