Aiming to assess and measure the direction and angulation of the collagen fibers, Comut et al., (2001), conducted a study with different surface treatments and they histologically found that collagen fibers were usually approaching obliquely or perpendicularly, and became parallel when next to surface of the implant. There were not found perpendicular fibers next or in contact with implants
