ABSTRACT
This chapter presents the impact of condition description and inspection data quality in infrastructure management. Describing structural condition wisely and correctly is a key point in a well-designed management system. Engineering structure management as a whole is based on the condition of structures and on other information. The management process including inspection training and other quality improving methods is of great importance. Before starting any management system development the management process must be clear, well described and agreed by the staff. The meaning of maintenance and management of all the engineering structures and the need of investments are growing together with the age of the structures. The best books are those which work together with a management system and have good structure descriptions and clear pictures and descriptions of damages and deterioration by the damage class so that the inspector has it easier to define the damage, its reason and damage class.
