ABSTRACT

We first explain the savings bank, or moneybox, which is the basis of the research described in this paper. The bank is designed for use with Japanese coins. When a coin is dropped into the slot, it slides down a slope into the savings bank. There are six holes in the slope, corresponding to the six denominations of Japanese coins: 500 yen, 100 yen, 50 yen, 10 yen, 5 yen, and 1 yen.
