ABSTRACT

What makes one product more appealing than another, where each is equally reliable and offers a similar level of technical performance , within a given price range? Products are often instinctively perceived, and product choice is rarely just an exercise in logic. Apart from the satisfaction of fulfilling a utilitarian function, an object can give its user pleasure , not only in terms of its ergonomic 'fit' but also through its aesthetic qualities. A user's subjective response to a product is a complex phenomenon, but it is important to understand some of the subjective factors influencing product choice and acceptability.
