ABSTRACT
The purpose of this chapter is to provide a basic framework for understanding how the concepts of condential information and proprietary information relate to IACUC activities. In providing institutional review and approval for research activities using animals, IACUCs might review information considered condential or proprietary by the researchers. Even information that may not seem condential or proprietary, such as a researcher’s name, may necessitate protective treatment under certain circumstances.
