ABSTRACT

Take LZ junction as an example, it studies how to determine the normal water level of the lower junction in cascade development of navigation river. Based on field data near the downstream of the built upper junction, rising value of water level is 0.5-0.8 m owing to the operation of lower junction in the Jialing River. And the relationship is established between rising values of water level and discharges. The plane 2D mathematical model is used to simulate water level and velocity in the reach between the two junctions. It is simulated with different normal water level of LZ. The results are analyzed about water depth, velocity along the reach, and threshold water depth of the upper junction. According to the planning objects of waterway, the dredging volume is calculated. Finally, the siltation effect on water level is simulated and analyzed. Considering the above various factors, the normal water level is proposed for the LZ navigationpower junction. It provides technical support for the construction of the LZ navigation-power junction and has a new idea for determining the normal water level of cascade navigation-power junction.
