ABSTRACT
This chapter outlines some of the preoperative and postoperative medical management tools for patients undergoing spine surgery. Because intraoperative management varies depending on the procedure, a lengthy discussion of intraoperative considerations is not included. However, because of the increased incidence of methicillinresistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), the use of vancomycin intraoperatively is presented.
