ABSTRACT

With the rapid development of high-rise buildings and long-span structures in the recent years, high performance simulation (HPS) is becoming more and more important for the structure design and building construction. The traditional design software solutions, such as PKPM, ETABS, MIDAS, YJK, etc., cannot meet the advanced requirements of HPS. On the other hand, although the large-scale general finite element analysis (FEA) software solutions, such as ABAQUS, ANSYS, ADINA, etc., have powerful computational abilities, they cannot be applied directly to the architectural structure analysis and design, due to the fact that their preprocessors are inconvenient for building modeling and their postprocessors cannot present computational results according to the building structure specifications, for example the civil codes and the custom of engineering.
