ABSTRACT

In the previous chapters, various biophotonic methods have been extensively described, and their applications have been discussed and reviewed. e scope of this chapter is to present a synthesis of the current and potential applications of the previously described techniques from the biologist’s point of view. e chapter will focus on the types of techniques that have been and/or are supposed to be used for studying a specic biomolecular event occurring on a specic intracellular organelle. e advantages as well as limitations of each method, as they appear in light of the present knowledge, will be pointed out. An eort will be made to show how some techniques are capable of providing simultaneous but selective information on biochemical events occurring at dierent sites of the cell.
