ABSTRACT

Over the years, new techniques in chemical and biological sensing have set the stage for great advances in the eld of biological research. One of the most recent technological advances in this area has been the development of nanosensors. A nanosensor is a sensor that has dimensions on the nanometer-size scale. e development of these nanosensors is at the forefront of single-cell analysis, a major prospect for future biological research. Nanosensors of various types (e.g., optical, electrochemical) have been reported in literature over the past decade; however, the emphasis of this review will be on optical-based nanosensors.
