ABSTRACT

Unfortunately the survival of earthen architecture «is threatened world-wide by the forces of economic, cultural and architectural homogenization» (ICOMOS Charter 1999), as well as by a lack of recognition of its true historical and cultural value. The preservation of this heritage requires not only its identification, but also a good knowledge of the typologies, construction techniques and materials which characterize it, in order to facilitate the implementation of appropriate restoration and reuse interventions.
