ABSTRACT

The city of Santa Fe was founded for the first time in 1573, after the colonizing motto of “expanding horizons”. The place, nowadays called Cayastá and proposed as a World Heritage Site, was inhabited until 1660, when it was moved 78 km south, to its current location, which is the capital of the province. This new settlement was more convenient for economic, strategic and safety reasons, and it replicated the urban characteristics of the first one (Santa Fe la vieja 1573-1660. Luis Maria Calvo).
