ABSTRACT

Cemented geomaterials (e.g. natural sands, loess, frozen soils, sedimentary rocks and methane hydrate bearing sands) are very common in nature and received increasing interests in the field of geotechnical engineering among others. Their atypical behavior arises from the presence of cementation at the contacts between grains, i.e., bond, as a result of the precipitation of minerals such as clay, calcium carbonate, and iron oxides.
