An experimental investigation of the micromechanical behaviour of cemented sand particles

Natural sand particles frequently have solid bonds at their contacts. These are created by the depositional and diagenetic processes that affect the soil during its history, which influence the nature and strength of the bonds. The presence of bonding agents can result in a significant increase of both strength and stiffness of the soil, at both the micro-and macro-scale.
