ABSTRACT

The following assumptions have been made in the proposed life-assessment model (Tomaszek et al. 2011):

– the device’s/system’s health is determined with one diagnostic parameter „z” in the form of deviation from the initial (zero) value:

z = |X − Xnom| (1)

where: X = current value of the diagnostic parameter, Xnom = nominal value of the diagnostic parameter;

– value of the diagnostic parameter’s deviation keeps changing throughout the system’s

1 INTRODUCTION

The paper presents a probabilistic method to assess lifetimes of components and (sub)assemblies that operate under conditions typical of ageing processes (induced by corrosion and/or other phenomena) within aircraft devices. Health of at least some of aircraft devices can be assessed by means of diagnostic parameters. The assessment in question needs that known are boundary values of parameters, for which the device or component is acknowledged to be serviceable (fit for use).
