ABSTRACT

This paper presents in brief the safety assessment of the underground installation at normal operation. In particular, the focus here is on the argon dispersion following a cryogenic release of gaseous argon in the underground premises. The paper is organized as follows. Section 2 gives a general description of the underground installation. Section 3 discusses briefly the quantitative risk assessment leading to the evaluation of accident frequencies. Section 4 presents the phenomenology analysis using CFD simulations of the argon dispersion. Section 6 concludes the work.
