ABSTRACT
GSM-R is a mobile digital cellular phone system which is based on public GSM however offers wider range of functionalities. Its infrastructure namely transmission antennas are situated along the railway lines. In some cases GSM-R is crucial for the railway traffic control command solutions. Precisely the European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS) comprising:
– European Train Control System (ETCS) which is a modern control command systems ensuring transmission and collection of the crucial data relating to the train running like running speed, position, running mode, etc.,
– Global System for Mobile Communication-Rail (GSM-R) which is as a basic transmission media for ETCS in one of its basic configurations named ETCS level 2 passing Movement Authorities which define limits for safe movements of the trains.
