ABSTRACT

Flat bedding of brown coal seams (4°–12°) enables optimize mining operations by using internal space of the open-cast for disposal of overburden mass. Internal dumping reduces outlay on transportation of overburden into external dumps and minimize negative environmental load on this territory. But the main problem of internal overburden dumps is associated with potential danger of sliding processes that can heavily influence mining operations. So slope stability issues remain the most vulnerable aspect while surface mining.
